I feel like the last person to make one of these Ice Cream Dresses from Oliver + S. I meant to make one a few years ago when the sewalong was on, but never got around to it. I keep seeing lovely versions pop up, and Milla has actually been lucky enough to have some gorgeous hand-me-down dresses that Kate made that will fit her next summer, so that inspired me to finally get cracking and sew one myself.
This is a size 3, it's a little roomy but should fit Milla all summer. Because it's gathered and bright it does look a tiny bit like a muu-muu but I love the print anyway, and I'm very proud of myself for matching the pockets to the fabric, so the vertical stripes line up. I think it will be really comfortable and practical to wear on warm days.
The fabrics are Michael Miller Broken Herringbone in pink and Cotton Couture in orange from Hawthorne Threads. The button is one that's been in the button jar for ages, I think it came from my grandmother and I love it. I do like projects like this that only use one or two buttons, it's a good chance to use up the stray ones.
