When I saw this Nesshome Cheater Print in the Miss Matatabi store I absolutely loved it. It's such a riot of colours and patterns and prints, and just really appealed to me. I didn't really know what to do with it but felt compelled to order some, so I thought the simplest thing would be to buy 1m and make a very lazy cot quilt.
The fabric is 142cm wide, so the quilt ended up being a good cot size with absolutely none wasted. The fabric is 55% linen, 45% cotton, which gives it a really nice weight & handle.
For the backing I used a piece of stash quilting cotton ("The Banks" from the Cloud 9's Across the Pond range) - I was planning to make a skirt with it, but it worked perfectly as a backing for the cheater print.
To quilt it, I just ran down the rows, and then zigzagged up diagonally through each piece. And the binding is subtle turquoise print from Remnant Warehouse... the print is so busy it didn't really need anything else. This was so much fun to sew, and it feels good to have a quilt ready in the present pile for the next time a friend who is not scared of bright colours has a baby.
