Hello 2015! I had a memorable and unconventional New Year's celebration with an appendectomy on New Year's Eve, and watched the fireworks on TV in hospital afterwards. I'm feeling much better now although still resting a bit while I heal. I'm very grateful to live in a place with excellent (and free) healthcare. You might expect New Year's Eve to be a terrible time to end up in Emergency (I did), but the nurses and doctors were amazing and I was very well looked after. So I'm starting the new year with a focus on health and healing, and working on our 2014 family photo book while I'm couch bound (I've also read The Children Act, The Hare with Amber Eyes and Alone in Berlin, which are all excellent in very different ways).
I've enjoyed having a look back at the things I made in 2014, and have started making plans for 2015 projects.

2014 was a busy year, and mostly a good one. I started full-time study (crammed into my two days/week of childcare) in the second semester, and while I have really enjoyed learning again it hasn't left as much time for making things. But, as usual, when I looked back at the photos there was quite a bit - not much sewing for me (just two dresses and one top!) but a few things for Milla, and some projects around the house. And costumes.
This year I want to just get on with making things. I have a tendency to over-think and over-research projects before I start, but I would really like to be more productive with my time and to get on with using up my stash materials rather than spending forever browsing for inspiration. I have a goal of turning out one finished project per week (on average) - and ideally I'd like to keep using fabrics and yarn that I have already - it will be interesting to see how many things I can make before I start to run out.
Wishing you all a happy start to 2015, and a wonderful, creative year ahead!
